BnD — Confirmation after Completion
Definition
The Confirmation after Completion, BnD for short, is the technical closing document of a KfW-funded energy renovation or climate-friendly new build. It is issued by the Energy Efficiency Expert who was also responsible for the BzA and who is listed on the dena expert register for federal energy efficiency funding. With the BnD, the expert confirms that the measures applied for in the funding application and in the BzA have been carried out fully, professionally and in accordance with KfW's minimum technical requirements. The BnD typically includes proof-of-use documents such as contractor invoices, technical data sheets, photographic documentation of the construction stages, where applicable measurement records (e.g. for hydraulic balancing) and a final energetic calculation. Only after a valid BnD has been submitted to the Hausbank and KfW can the repayment subsidy (Tilgungszuschuss) or the remainder of the funding be paid out. The BnD is therefore the legally binding conclusion of the funding process.
When is the term used?
The BnD is used at the end of a funded measure, usually after final inspection of all trades. It is mandatory for all KfW residential programmes that require construction supervision by an Energy Efficiency Expert. Without a BnD, the funding is not paid out — a normal site acceptance or final invoice is not sufficient. Owners should note the submission deadline stated in the funding notice. KfW often checks the BnD on a sampling basis or requests supplementary evidence.
